It’s a Home Invasion!

Not really of course, but The IT Girl is ready for Remote IT Support!

This means that if you have an emergency that requires me to look at your computer and fix an issue and I cannot get to you at a reasonable timeframe, I can connect to your computer remotely and take over your desktop. There are a few things that you need to be aware of:

1) You must be running Windows XP or higher.
2) You must be able to boot up your system and login with administrative privileges.
3) You need to make your system ‘remote ready’ (read below)
4) You need your computer’s IP address (read below)

Remote connectivity has been around for some time, and Microsoft has an excellent tutorial to prepare you for making your computer ‘remote ready’.

To find your IP address do this:

Start a Command Prompt on a computer that is running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK
Then type: IPCONFIG and press Enter.
